"Connie Walker named general manager of WUNC radio" - WUNC

Maybe she'll start off explaining how a station that only serves a portion of the state can call itself "North Carolina Public Radio"?

Yes, Joan ROSE. As far as I know she is still with this other organization - http://www.ncbiotech.org/news_and_events/industry_news/ced_picks_wuncfms_joan_siefert.html

I see. Thanks. For that. Since Connie Walker was in-house, there probably won't be any changes, which is too bad. I find public radio east, which you can pick up to the east of Raleigh to be a lot more like what public radio is supposed to be and possibly the way wunc used to be.
WUNC seems to spend so much air time on self promotion and building the presence or potential minor, local celebrity status of their on-air personnel that I get fed up and turn it off whenever I have an option. Not to mention the non-stop fundraising....

Thanks. In fact, you don't even have to travel beyond your internet-connected computer in order to listen to Public Radio East - http://www.publicradioeast.org/ I find it very curious that WUNC does not provide prominent links on its website to all of the public radio stations in NC, especially after annointing themsevles "North Carolina Public Radio".
